phoebe write your poetry
and then when you're grown
they'll leave you alone
it's such a terrible crime
you're next to nothing
until you die, until you die

some men never make it
some men make it to the top
still a poet never knows it
no, not until he drops

you can hang in there, momma
write your soothing songs
rock-n-roll to your music
until the music's gone
when it's all over
then you're on, then you're on

phoebe write your poetry
and then when you're gone
they'll acknowledge you
(they always do)
it's still a shame just the same
honey, they just never do
acknowledge you until you die
no, not until you die

There must be a poem in here somewhere.

Not only is there a poem in there, there is also a song, just crying to be sung, in long plaintive notes, with a melody slow and bittersweet, and a voice of pure music married to a pan flute.

Ah, the unsung poets of the world here for the masses, but hiding in their closets unheralded and unappreciated.

Intolerant people are the people who do not believe the way we want them to, which makes us intolerant by default.—July 26, 2010

You know Faith, this sings like a chorus....

"you can hang in there, momma
write your soothing songs
rock-n-roll to your music
until the music's gone
when it's all over
then you're on, then you're on"

It could very well be for some in the music world that became much more of a success after they were gone.

It's sad but very true Faith and it's a wonderful piece you've penned here.

Hi, Eric...Thanks for your wonderful remarks.  When I wrote this, I thought about making it into a song.  I couldn't decide which part i wanted to use for the chorus so i left it as a poem.

I have written some blues song lyrics though most of which have been published in a book out of Louisiana.  I'll post one so you can give me your opinion on it if you would be so kind to do so.

This is an awesome poem. It is so true you never get acknowledged sometimes until you die. Quite sad if you think about it! But at least we poets know how good each other are. I truly enjoyed the read!!!!
