Thirty-seven Years Ago

When my breath catches on a heartbeat,
love breathes every time I exhale;
when my fingertips tingle at being close,
and my body flushes with warmth
each time my eye catches yours . . .
the magic has begun all over again.

And I love you, all over again –
every minute, every second, of every day –
just like yesterday, the day before,
thirty-seven years ago,
the first moment we met.

My heart,
the essence of me . . .

is You.

Ohhhhh, dear Jimmy, this is a delightful poetic declaration of forever love! Precious are those heartbeats that play the rhythm of love.

Just lovely!

Love,
Margherita

You honour each other and your child and any others you may have with such a wonderful marriage.  You are not lucky.  You are blessed, and each of you is part of that blessing.  It takes to to tango, or to argue or to have a good marriage.  I take my (non-existent) hat off to both of you.  You each deserve your wonderful spouse.

I read this poem earlier today, Jimmy, and have thought about it all day.  You are such a nice person ~ and I do think of you as "friend".  May I save this poem?  It's one of the most touhing poems that I have read.

xoxoxo to you and your wife.

I'd be honored, Alison, that you'd think anything I write worthy of that.

That is just beautiful, my parents had that kind of love in their marriage. They were married 54 yrs, my father passed not to long ago, and every nite, my mother plays her piano at the same time "endless love"
it just doesnt get any better than that. But your words were so beautifully written. Thanks for sharing!

How wonderful that you can feel like that after 37 years.  Luck?  No.  As Gary Player said, "The harder I work, the luckier I get" so I reckon you (and your wife) have worked for the privilege -  and isn't it great working at something that doesn't feel like work?  Congratulations!

as far as relationships go, I really don't think you can get any better than "the essence of me . . .

is You."  Very nicely writ.
