There we were
walking
on naked sand,
our feet writing
temporary fables
left behind,
that only waves
could fathom
and dunes
could discern,
vanishing
into the coral
of seahorses,
of wind
and reef,
an aria
in the sky
of lay and
lullaby,
an answer
of evensong
that kissed
our continuation
of prelude,
this
sequel,
of genesis
soft,
by the sea.

She
meandered
by the drifts
picking petals off of
forget me nots
as a quatrain
pulled
into the station,
tooting its horn
at the pelican,
a wooden indian
forever waiting
now stanza
in the corner
a splinter
in his eye
cause his
tears
to awaken
staring
at her gown
as it prances
toward
the mist
the light house
now silent
as she
glides
toward
her love.

They’re fingers
comingle
and meld
into one,
she kicks
at the pebbles
as he picks up
a stick,
the sky
is now turning
from turquoise
to coal
he pulls her
much closer
her cheek
on his neck,
she reaches
around
and draws him in
tighter,
the tale
of two footprints,
has turned
into one.

The sky
is now weeping
she pulls
her umbrella
they stand
underneath
on an island
of dessert
he pulls
up her collar
she blows
at her bangs
the breeze
is now howling
but they still
never notice
he touches
her face
as she lowers
her eyes,
their dream
is now fading
he builds her
her fire
they lay
right beside it
and smile
one last time,
the ocean
now opens
and swallows
their story,
a legend
of richness
all covered,
in blue.

Damn, Richard, I have never loved "blue" as much as I do at this moment.  What a beautiful story to begin my day.  I am going to put it in my pocket and savor it.

Thank you, beautiful man friend.

As I read this I was flooded with so many emotions.  One of solitude, peace and serenity,
a warm shoulder to lean on and a level of comfort that needs no words.
I can literally feel the breeze brushing my face...  It is beautiful
how you painted the sea in all her majesty...
but dang, you're killing me with that last verse.

Love and hugs to you, RichY~

Ohh Lori...

okay so far I've got a damn, and a dang... I'm taking that as a good thing

The last verse...?... Hmmm, oh yeah, that part... well, its easy to paint such lovely vistas when the person in the foreground is so beautiful.

Love ((you)) too.

Richard

And here comes my "Oh!" ... that expresses my awe ...

Your talent once again floods the perception of this reader and leaves quite special tracks in her mind.

Love,
Margherita

Sweetest Alison, blue is a gorgeous color isn't it, the sky, the ocean, a woman's teary eyes, yes it is the hue of all things needed and nourishing...

Thank you for being my friend, your spirit, is miracle.

Love ya.
Richard

Margy darling, I'm glad to leave tracks in your mind, you've left so many in mine all these years.

If you ever get a headache, smack your head lightly on one side and knock me over... its just me running around too much reading your poems as they are created through your eyes.
