Fair to middlin' of nowhere

flipping
feathered
multicolored
confetti fall
from the sky

gather again
circling
silhouetted
puff of seeds
skyward ascend

sliver glint
to the eye
high

free falling
in unison
somersaulting
down

breakout
in formation
circle round
repeating
down
down

hoping
young ones
don't hit
the ground

WoW! I know the poem isn't about it, but all that stuff falling out of the sky makes me think of Mardi Gras. We just finished Mardi Gras around here last Tuesday (Fat Tuesday) and the multi-colored beads and doubloons are still lying in the gutter and street. They were tossed from carnival floats and thusly I associated that with your poem. I'm assuming you are writing about birds of some kind, because of the last lines about the baby.

Yes Jerry it is about birds-Roller Pidgeons to be exact. They do flips in the air when they fly. They are really fun to watch. Sometimes a few of the the younger ones don't get the timing right and roll right to the ground (ouch) most often they are okay and grow out of it.

I know what you mean Lori
Beautiful aren't they?
I like to what the Terns over the lake. The acrobatics are nothing short of fantastic.

Yes Eric they are! And it is amazingly relaxing to sit and watch them.  We have been having problems with falcons lately...
You wouldn't think a bird the size of a pidgeon could carry one off. but such is the cycle of life.

Now see? I envisioned the starlings over the fields of milo...but then again, birds of a feather...

well, you know the rest.

Sunshine-Yep, as long as I make some type of bird brain out of the reader, I'm happy.
