ball of fire resting on a tightrope landscape
clarion-drawn chariot of the dusk-clad gods
iridescent glow along nature's nape
shrugs its shoulders and shrinks in nods

of evening-lamp sleep shred in day-worn frays
that yawn with splendor in a mist of haze-shorn awe
as the sunset redeems its orange-burst ways
while its rounds complete its natural law

and the warmth of its nightscape etches shadows calm
that soothe the soul and rest the traveler's way
filling the dreams of night, caressed in a lucid balm
of satisfied longing at the death of day

Beautifully expressed end of day, dear Steaven!

A rich poem to savor attentively.
