On a late night stroll in the garden,
what did I chance to see?
Two toads sitting on pale green stones,
staring quietly back at me.

Not ordinary stone sitting toads they be,
for they chose ancient Paleozoic stones,
Wills Creek Silurian,
a color of soft sea-foam green.

Time traveled thoughts bounced back and forth
between these two toads and me.
It seemed they could read my mind,
no barriers between us, though I'm sure there ought to be.

Our auras converged and overlapped into
an undulating light even fireflies could see.
This was no ordinary garden stroll,
not for these two toads, nor for me.

And if you think this midnite tale
is just some runaway fantasy,
I invite you to my garden at night,
where vibrant auras you shall see.

Yo dear Kacy,

It's okay to talk to those toads, just don't touch them.  They'll give you warts.

Don’t you know nothing Kacy?  They’re just biding their time.

Nah, I was just lying.  Toads don't give you warts.

Toads are great, they eat harmful insects.

Very cool poem, Kacy!  It brings me back to the Frog and Toad stories I used to read to kids!  How I loved those stories!

Now, I don't know about how toads communicate with people, but it sure seems like dogs and cats do, and maybe some plants, as well!  Now, if that doesn't sound...

Have a great day, Kacy!  Thanks for the enjoyable poem.

Love your poem, I too like toads and think they are cute,  I thought it was frogs that gave you warts. Maybe it's the part of the country you are from. just for laughs.

I believe! I believe! ~ and the most radiant aura in your garden must be that of the Midnitesun!

Perhaps, some evening, I could join you and together we could commune with the flora and fauna in blissful harmony.

Love & Garden Light,

I love it, Love It, LOVE IT, LLLLLOVVVVVE ITTTTT!!!!!  I am smiling deeply and happily and picturing and hearing and sensing the communication amongst the beautiful trio in a colourful garden setting.

I don't believe, for one moment, that it is a runaway fantasy!  I believe EVERY SINGLE WORD OF IT!

I, too, love toads, but have never been so blessed, to meet 2 together, least of all sitting on the same stone, the little darlings!  This is one of my VERY, VERY, VERY favourite poems of yours and off it goes to join all the other Kacy poems in my Kacy folder and to be hauled out whenever I want to relive it.  Thank you.

Oh, this is delightful, I want to be there with you too for the toad and aura midnight party! I would hold them too, in sheer gratitude for eating tons of mosquitos.
Of course the whole garden was holding its breath to listen to your conversation! And did you see a few flowers opening a petal or two to hear better?

Tender here the awareness of all things interacting ...

Beautiful!

Love and hugs  ... I feel like skipping through your garden with the toads as guides ...

Came back to re-enjoy and saw that I misread one part and that they weren't both on the same stone.  I think I was too blown away by the absolute delight to have read it properly.  Both on their own stone, I am now re-arranging the picture, and it is every bit as beautiful as when I misread it.  Love the title too!

Hey Mike, I'm a vegetarian! No toad licking or toad stew for me.

Margherita, it would be fun to have a poet party in a garden! The vegetable garden seems to smile more now because the toads eat some of the nasty bugs.
I have less flowers than planned or planted, because there's a dozen or so wild rabbits eating various blooms! They loved the red verbena, and now this morning, a very young dumb bunny was eating my fuschia flowers!

Bruce, thanks for hopping by for garden fun. LOL

Diana, they were each 'on their own stone' but less than a foot apart, one medium and one large toad. Something tells me there might be more, but they don't show themselves much during the daytime, and this is all I've seen so far...these two who just sat and stared at me.
I always walk around the garden at night, especially on full moon nights when you don't need a flashlight, to watch the critters that are prowling about the yard.

ms midnite..I imagine the toads peek through the damp mossy leaves sometimes and watch your poetess eyes as they look for the lover moon. They dream of being twin princly males that might compete for your whispering charms..enjoyed you here ms

Oh, what a pity! I love flowers and I love bunnies, what a dilemma ... idea: you should tame the toads and teach them how to frighten the bunnies just before they begin to nibble at the flowers ....

Loved your last reply to me, Kacy, and also Margherita's to you.  Just one point where I don't agree with you - bunnies aren't dumb - and have you ever tasted a verbena with bunny taste-buds?  If you had, I am sure you would forgive that darling little bunny.  Smiles.

LOL, Diana, I just let him chow down. It's only a plant. You are right, they aren't so dumb, they are picky when it comes to which plants they will eat! They love mine because I don't use any sprays, no chemicals for this gal. ORGANIC all the way.
Love these replies!

DS, that reply was so kewl! Thanks!

Margherita, they just do what bunnies and toads do, I only train cats and dogs, sometimes birds.

AW, glad you enjoyed this!

Sunshine, smiling at you, knowing this would make you smile.

Dark star, thanks for the visit!

Hey Di, I never use pesticides or artificial crap on my garden, just compost and TLC. Organic gardening all the way, start to finish.
Bugs are part of nature's life chain. I accept riddled leaves as long as those critters leave a few bites for me! Poisoning mother earth is just plain stupid!
That one baby bunny ate most the fuschia  flowers, left me a couple to enjoy. LOL
