Hi everyone.  We are having a memorial for my mom on Sunday, and I've penned the following to read at the service.
.
.
.
.
Forget-Me-Nots

When days are long and missing you
Is all my mind can seem to do,
I sense you, as you guide my way,
To cleanse the sorrow from my day.

You are the warmth that hugs my heart
When sadness tears my world apart;
I feel you gather up my strength,
To carry me that extra length.

When I retire at night in bed
With thoughts of you around my head,
I like to think it’s you I find
When comfort soothes this tired mind.

I know that when I listen hard,
When I let go and drop my guard,
When I “allow” myself to see ...
Your recollections strengthen me.

They greet me like a well known friend,
Those memories, that never end,
Those pictures, sounds and scents of you,
Come tumbling in to see me through.

A spark of laughter plays my mind,
Your eyes and smile in slow rewind,
Your loving memories fill my heart,
For never will they truly part.

You’re here beside me every day,
You’re in my thoughts and seldom stray,
The ties that bound us from the start,
Will carry on within this heart.

When I wish you were by my side,
When missing you won’t be denied,
I’m thankful as you fill my thoughts,
With mem’ries of forget-me-nots.

Oh, Kit... what a beautiful tribute to your mother and the love that lives on in you. Somewhere, she's smiling. *S*

Forget-Me-Nots like the lake and farm,
Will keep you comforted, and your heart warm,
'Cause when I feeling kinda blue for you,
Your forget-me-nots, seem to warm me too.

You done good grasshopper.

This is near the birthday of my brother,
and near the time of a loss of a sister-by-love.

Your memories come right down my road,
my friend, and I know your mother's friends
and all of your family will have their hearts
touched from this time on for and from your
beautiful thoughts.

Bless you.

My mother passed on the 19th of November 16 years ago.  What you write of your mom, draws tears to my eyes for the loveliness you will always draw from her, for it's evident in you words.

I am glad there will be family and friends to gather round you to celebrate her life.  I wish you a bountiful Thanksgiving, in the knowlege of her love!  In the days to come, peace.

Tearfully beautiful. Oh, to be thought of as you think of her. You were blessed and it is so nice to know that you know it.  latearrival.

Thanks so very much everyone. I really appreciate your feedback and encouragement.

This has been such a difficult road to travel. I was a very lucky daughter to have been blessed with the mom I had, and I miss talking to her so very much.

With much appreciation to you all for your kind words and support,
/Kit

Dear Kit,

You wrote a beautiful poem that your Mom would treasure forever - and she will.  My heart goes out to you and your family.  Yet, I am so happy that you have a Mother to love the way you love her.  And I am so happy for you that you have a Mother who loves you so much.  There is no past tense in love -

it will hold you up for all your days.

Love,
Alison

This is one for my wife. She'll shed buckets. She is in the throws of losing her father( a lovely man)
ok, it's getting a bit moist here too.

Thank you so much everyone. You thoughts and support are so appreciated.  I came in to read one more time.  We have to leave for the service shortly, and it meant a lot to me to come back to read your kind words.

Thank you.

With much appreciation,

You've done your mother proud, dear lady
I suspect she's smiling a huge big smile over you today.

Hugs to you

Yup, that's what moms are for. What a lovely tribute for the memorial. Superb in its quality but superior in its content.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane,
I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

I doubt there was a dry eye at the memoriaial service when you read this ultimate expression of love and appreciation for your mother. Icould feel the tears welling up in my own eyes as I read this outpouring of love for her. You are fortunate to have those warm memories of her to hold close to your heart.

Your Mom was surely a wonderful person ~ if her daughter is any indication.

God bless you both!

Love  and Eternal Light,\

I just lost my grandmother, so I was very able to relate to this.  A beautiful piece of work, and one that really touched me.

Thank you for sharing it!
