The carnage lies behind me now,
the battle sounds have gone:
the morning mist lifts to reveal
     the shores of Avalon.

My broken soul and body pain,
but I must stumble on
to spend what time is left me
     on the isle of Avalon.

We thought we could bring mighty change:
our righteousness had shone,
but now I only seek to rest
     upon sweet Avalon.

Excalibur has turned to rust,
ne'er more to be drawn:
no conflict will ever touch
     the shores of Avalon.

Fair Camelot is gone to ruin
in this dark and cold new dawn,
and I go now to seek my rest
     on gentle Avalon.

One of my favorite stories, is Avalon, which at times
I believe was far too true, given that we only
repeat our past.

Well done, Sir.

Avalon sounds like a good place now.

Thoroughly enjoyed. Especially the stanza about Excalibur.

Enjoyed this much, dear Jim.

You gave King Arthur a beautiful voice. The sadness is felt so deeply and yet the magic continues ...

Touching.

Love,
Margherita

Alas, fair Camolot the a deserted, lonely town.
All the paint has faded and the wall are falling down.
For it the singers chant a last lament.
But what, the workers are laying new cement.
For a condo with charging higher rent.

Hi Jim, I found this poem I wrote some time ago about Avalon that I think you might like.

   FOREVER AVALON

Vivienne of the fairy folk
wrapped in her scarlet cloak,
surveys the glory of the dawn
that breaks o'er fabled Avalon.

As the jeweled splendor of the sun's first rays
sweep the mystic night away,
the outer world may yet behold
this precious gift from the Gods of old.

At Vivienne's command,
the mists will shroud her magic land.
Concealing the dream of Avalon
from the dreary world that lies beyond.

This holy druid isle
set in the azure sea,
forever held apart
frpm the realm of pale reality.
