The Vagabond

Tumbleweeds tumble, which way the wind blows,
Memories wither and fade,
Ashes to ashes, dust to dust,
We return to that which we are made,

We make the most of what this world gives us,
Endure all manner of strife,
Feast or famine, glory or gloom,
It’s the living that rewards life,

Most of us put down roots somewhere,
Raise a family and build a home,
Day by day, year after year,
We gather them, so we wont be alone,

But to some, the wind is their guidepost,
Follow where the tumbleweed goes,
Here to there, then to now,
Where they’ll be next, nobody knows,

Where home once was, is in their past,
For tomorrow brings a whole new day,
No place to be, traveling free,
They blow on, in their unconcerned way,

So don’t try to tie them down, my friend,
They will be gone with the very next breeze,
On their way, never to stay,
The Vagabonds, come and go as they please.

The answer is always NO, Until the question is asked.

Bill,  I feel so bad that I don't get to read your poems much,  I can't see them at work because my computer blocks many pictures, so I have to wait till I get home, and I don't spend much time at home on the PC.

I do so enjoy your writing when I get in there and also greatly appreciate your wonderful comments on my poems.

Thank you for taking the time to read my work.

Sincerely,
Tracey.

Hi! Honey,  (m0m speaking)
This is a great poem and I think I know who you are thinking of.  Once you refered to your brother Brad as a Vagabond, and you may be right. But as long as he is alright, that's what counts.  Just love my kids.

Love to all Mom

Awesome Piece...and oddly fitting to my choice for this screen name, not in person, but in thought and imagination.  Excellent write.
