I watched the dawn creep stealthily
On silvered sandalled feet
Erasing night's dark residue
From heavens still half asleep

A scene I knew, and yet it looked
A fairyland to me
This summer morn when Nature's gems
Were strewn on land and sea

The dewdrops glittered in the grass
Like jewels of Araby
The sun was casting nets of gold
Across the sapphire sea

And strings of opal pearls adorned
The cobwebs in the hedge
While moonstones edged the deep green ferns
That clung to cliff and ledge

Then as the morning moon sailed by
In regal ceremony
There seemed, to my attentive eye
A sense of harmony

With glowing pools of rose throughout
This other-wordly place
My spellbound heart, without a doubt
Found gifts in its embrace

Then as the sun stood at the helm
Of dream enchanted skies
This landscape of a magic realm
Held hints of paradise .....

Magic... picture, words, cadence, a grand piece of art.

Oh my you should be a tour guide!  That is simply breathtaking - both poem and picture.

By the way, that is my lineage, and there is to be a MacRae gathering this September in Prince Edward Island.  Marigold MacRae of Eilean Donan Castle in Kintail, and her daughter Miranda have been invited to attend this year, and I am very tempted to attend myself.     Small world?

"Opals on cobwebs, nets of gold, jewels of Araby..." What fine words! Your poem is a gem too.

My dear Katriona, I have been saving so many of your poems, that you should start charging me! Better still, have a book published and I will buy it!

I love the beauty 'scene' through your eyes!

Oh you should attend the gathering Mysteria, it will be a wonderful event I'm sure, and so many chances to meet your kinsfolk.

Here, especially for you, is a picture of that famous castle Eilean Donan, surely the most photographed castle in the whole of Scotland.  I also believe they filmed "Highlander" there.

Hope to see you one day in Scotland then, I'll take the low way, and you might take the high way, eh ? (I hail from Stirling in the Lowlands). I was there ten days ago, this time in Aberdeen visiting my cousin, not sure if you are aware, but I live and work in Norway, also a beautiful country, but home is where the heart is for sure.  It only takes an hour and a half to fly back home, so I go fairly often. My mother died a few years back and I must admit it's not the same any longer.  Now I have my closest family around me here in Norway   Thanks again dear Mysteria

Oh dear Linda, I am honoured you think I should publish, yes indeed I have plans, but not until I retire in a few years time.  I must have a hobby to look forward to, it takes a lot of time to publish, so perhaps you'll be beating me to it ?  Your poesy is fantastic and you know I appreciate reading it very much.

Katriona,

Oh, you have strewn magic over my mind to take me to dreams tonight.  This is absolutely magical.  I love it.  Did you take the picture that accompanies the poem - it's incredible.

Thank you for sharing -

dear Katriona, this is charming and hypnotic, a great write indeed, something as peaceful as a walk in nature...

I watched the dawn creep stealthily
On silvered sandalled feet
Erasing night's dark residue
From heavens still half asleep

thanks for the delicious verses.

So many vs. to chose from as being chalk full of imagery my friend..it's hard to choose, but this one struck my heart the most....absolutely a beautiful write, but I would expect nothing less from you...huggs, peaceseaker

Yo dear Heart2Heart,

Scotland has many beautiful features.  A friend of mine from East Kilbride once took me to Eilean Donan when I was consulting there.

This is a lovely poem.

Exquisitely peaceful and lovely poem!  I agree with Earth Angel.  Your poetry is worthy of publishing, and I found myself draining the stress of day in the beautiful wordpaint of this one...a hint of paradise which made me exhale with a smile!
