Author's note:  In loving memory of my dear father who passed away just this morning, August 5th, 2009.  I will be gone for a awhile but will be back

Wild Roses

Shades of stronger love
slant through my eyes,
yet moist from the night
Memories woven
Cling to my self

That day. . .
We walked to the meadow
and carried wild roses
plucked from the wood

My father,

Wind-swept
You placed to my heart
Picking out thorns
that I may not bleed

I bled

Now your breath shallow
You smile---don’t worry
As you reach for the thorn,
and find it not there
While shades of stronger love
slant through your eyes
I offer wild roses
plucked of yesterday’s thorns

And I smile---

Dear (((((Janet))))) I am sorry to hear that your Dad moved on. What a profoundly loving poem you offer him to feel you close on his way Home. These wild roses connect you beautifully.

Love and hugs.

Jan,

You are in my thoughts.  This is quite a tribute to the man who is your father.  He will always be with you, protecting you from thorns.
