A prophet scorned by amaranth,
And crowned with boughs of thorn,
Will bleed upon the perianth,
Where roses, red, are born.

A rose is passion's scarlet sign,
A thorn; a mark of pain,
Forever will the two entwine,
Together they remain.

A virgin's bleed is bought with strife,
And graced by pleasure's gasp,
The opening of gates of life,
Within a lover's clasp.

A warrior, his noble stand,
Is ended by the sword,
Yet tales of that heroic hand
Are penned in poet's word.

So ever love begat our grief,
Will ever mankind cry,
When tried upon that sharp relief,
Where thorns and roses lie.

Luke, I am such a fan of your poetry.

For example: "A rose is passion's scarlet sign,
A thorn; a mark of pain,
Forever will the two entwine,
Together they remain."

~ Achingly beautiful!!!

Sending a comforting hug your way,

Linda

Thank you, everyone.

I didn't really plan this one. It just seemed to manifest in an omen of clarity whilst I was doodling.

Love and hugs.
