I wanna make it big
I wanna reach for the stars
I wanna have a good home
In a nice neighbourhood
I want to give my kids
What I never had
I want them to have
A good education
A cosy home
A loving father
All the things I never had

I want to have a job
Thats creative
Enjoyable
I want a job that suits me
I want a husband
Who loves me for me
I don’t mind fights
Every couple has to fight
I’m not naive

I want two children
One boy
One girl
I don’t mind if they fight
All siblings do
I don’t mind if they don’t
Get all A’s
No kid is perfect
But I want them to try their best
That’s all I could ever ask for
I want to give them
The best start in life
In whatever they want to do
Doctor?
Lawyer?
Social worker?
Author?
Artist?
I don’t mind
As long as their happy.

I want people to believe
In what I want to do
I want them to believe
That I can do this
I want people to look at me
And say
“She’s gonna go far”

But I told my friend what I wanted
She looked at me with the
Oddest look in her eyes
“You know that will
NEVER
happen, right?”
I stared at her
Who would say such a thing?

It’s not like I have an unreachable dream
I understand it might not all work out
The way I want it to
I might not get married
But I will try to love
I might not have children
But I will try to share my joy
I might not get the perfect house
But it will be my home
I might not get my perfect job
But I swear to you I will try

I can get there,
Watch me

I think the only person that really counts is you believing in you, and you will succeed.

This poem holds an excellent message to every young person out there. If you dream big, they can come true, but only if you stay positive, and work towards those goals and dreams.
