Look into the eyes
Of the man with no soul
Used up and abandoned
Forced to pay the toll
For the treachery of life
And the love that you stole
Left with only his thoughts
Spinning out of control

Torture and agony
Is all that he’ll feel
Comfort and kindness
They seem so unreal
The walls he has built
Are of concrete and steel
No longer possessing
A heart to conceal

I know not joy
I have no fun
I feel no warmth
I see no sun
Alone I stand
Alone I run
I simply am
The soulless one

What was it that brought him
To such a sad state
The choices he’s made
Or maddening fate
Will someone now help him
Perhaps it’s too late
For he’s lost all his patience
No more will he wait

Along this dark path
Alone he will be
With no one to guide him
Nor light he can see
Battered and broken
By life’s misery
This is the man
Which dwells within me

I know not joy
I have no fun
I feel no warmth
I see no sun
Alone I stand
Alone I run
I simply am
The soulless one

This flows wonderfully.

quote:
What was it that brought him
To such a sad state
The choices he’s made
Or maddening fate

I've often wondered this about myself. Well written.

Thank you both, I'm glad you liked this piece. These thoughts popped into my head one day at lunch so I had to write them down. I don't write nearly as much as I used to when I first joined PIP Talk way back when, so it feels good to do it again.

Thanks again.

I like how the poem has flowed.
There is darkness, there is light
but its the way you look at things
that will make everything all right
its all in your sight
do see it right!
