The Olympic Games

The Olympic Games have ended.
Oh, what a show it's been
With athletes losing gracefully
And gracious when they win.

Bringing honor to their countries,
Their families and their sports,
Behind the scenes they mingled
And listened to reports.

The Chinese are a wonder.
They gobbled up the gold,
And stories of the show they staged
Forever will be told.

If only nations followed
The example of their youth,
We'd solve our problems without war,
And winners be in truth.

Before the games in London,
May the whole world be at peace.
May world leaders have learned lessons
And formed friendships such as these.

You've touched upon the the true gold, the world record we'd most like to see established is a world record for peace. Every hope is a good one.

It was so fun to watch the Olympics.. This is my first year watching it. I am not a big sports watcher or player for that matter. lol!

Mostly, all the teams I cheered for won! Thank you for writing this poem Joyce, it brings fun stuff to talk and discuss about!
