That I could be a bird
Your heart, my love, my cage;
Forever I would sing with mirth,
Of ditties, there would be no dearth:
That I could be a bird
And you, my love, my cage.

That I could be a fish
And you, my love, the sea;
In search of hidden treasure,
I’d swim with such pure pleasure:
That I could be a fish
And you, my love, the sea.

That I could be the moon
And you, my love, a star;
We, on the world, would pour cool light,
And brighten many  lovers’ night:
That I could be the moon
And you, my love, my star.

Nay, let me be your Mark
And you, my Ying, my love
Be you the tree, and I the bark
We’ll bask in sunlit Central Park;
Peacefully I’ll be your Mark
And you, my Ying, my love.

Lovely thoughts and very well structured.

I love those types of list thoughts as they seem to peak and valley with such emotion!

Marc-Andre,

This is truly lovely and very well written.  I can almost hear it as a song - it sang in my head as I read.

This quite lovely and so romantic in nature,
There is not much romance left in the world now
So this poem was very refreshing
Thank you for sharing..

Looks like you are barking up the right tree, Marc

Nothing negative to say here. The poem is excellent, not a beat out of place and it is a pure love testamonial...would make wonderful song lyrics.

Talk about true talent! What a wonderful read. I'd enjoy hearing this one read aloud.
