I left my footprints at your door
My yearnings and my thoughts within
To wait and wait forevermore
Till love and laughter called me in

I smile while holding arms out wide
But you are blind and cannot see
The presence that awaits outside
With footprints that were made by me

I’ve held the tears and built the dams
I’ve walked the fields and mountains high
But yet to nurture yearning plans
That sit within my heart to die

I’ve whispered to the Lord of love
And painted pictures in my mind
But even with the stars above
The dream of mind seems hard to find

Life the gift that gives the chance
To long and want in minds pretend
That somehow gives a soul the glance
Of happiness until the end

---------------------------

Those footprints now are soiled and covered
The door has seen more souls than mine
Who cried their plea to then discover
Fate is one that picks the time

In life I’ve come to share my smile
And found there’s love in life to share
And leave my footprints with each mile
Until I’m home and know I’m there

Rick - sometimes the footprints aren't left at the door, but go right in. Now that's a good thing. Nice write...

Dear Rick, this is not only very beautiful, but also very poignant and I wonder who could ever ignore your footprints and heart's emotions?

And ... there is no end, love is all there is.

Love,
Margherita

You summed this fine  spill from your radiant soul, perfectly!

"In life I’ve come to share my smile
And found there’s love in life to share
And leave my footprints with each mile
Until I’m home and know I’m there"

God bless you, dear Rick! Keep on smiling, and writing, and coming home to pip!

Love and Smiles across the miles,
Linda

I have never known a man to express him self in such a way that touched me as much as my own poems do (no to sound arrogant) just wanted to say BRAVO and ENCORE and keep up the good work.

ms robey, it was so nice getting your reply my friend, it is a great thing to like your own poetry, to have it touch that part inside which begs for release and assurance, we would not write otherwise hey, it somehow rewards our being. I truly appreciated your honesty here and am so glad you have seen another side to how men think and express themselves. Take care my friend and be well.
