Oh, my valentine
How we were so in synch

We once knew one another like
Brother and sister
And loved each other
Seemed it would never disappear
But just as quick as our paths crossed
The cross-road disappeared
And are we now lost
Or just re-appeared?
For during our time together
I focussed only on you, not my own
Like I was living in a dream
That was not yet mine to call home
Was I sad when you left?
Not as much as I would have thought
For I asked, what do I have left?
What has this love in me taught?
So now my road
Has a destination
Thanks to you
And this new revelation

Oh, my valentine
How we were so in synch

When I think of what we had
It really is a shame
And could have had
All the glory and the fame
The road I was on
Lead to a destination
But has become no more
Than a simple stopping station
It did seem the perfect couple
Like two peas in a pod
But we know this is now over
So I turn my head and nod

Oh, my valentine
How we were so in synch

When you walked
My heart sank
But my road hit its fork
And for that I thank
I had the choice
To mope or to let go
I chose to learn from this
And to start to sow
For I now know
That what I sow I reap
And this will show
That my future I can keep
And call my own
For no future is written in ink
Oh, my valentine
How we were so in synch
But now I am so mine
