My need is great my hunger growing
Yet as our planet turns and circles
This star of our days my quiver
Draws more empty my tools worn
Broken from over use

But now I see the distance keeps a tree
Her roots sunk deep into this earth
Her branches spread to catch the light
Trunk straight and true

Cedar

Not without burls or boroughs broken
By the storms of life has this tree
For she has known the kiss of lightning
And fire has raged around her base
Her bark fragmented and missing here
And there torn away by chance

Left its mark upon her

Soul

Seemingly alone she stands
As I from a distance look upon
The whole of her
My need of her draws the self of me

Near

Now within her shade I stand and see
That these same branches these same roots
Give shelter for her needs and food for life
Evan as I draw shelter of shade
From the heat of day and

Life

Fertile soil to feed and nurture
Light makes green her leaves

Might she share heart wood
To fashion arrows I need to

Live

In my minds eye I see a silhouette of mother nature and how the human spirit is drawn to bask in her shadow.

Very nice writing, Didymus~

This is great. Tree lover that I am, the abologies spoke to me strongly. I like your organization, the way you break off the last line of each stanza to let those strong words resound in the reader's mind mind. You truly shared "heart wood."
