You are so right, yann.  My daughter's friend gave her a pair of expensive ivory earrings  a few years ago and she has never worn them. She always said they would bring her bad luck because of where they came from.

Yes, poor elephants, they have suffered and continue to suffer in some parts of the world. Thank you for this contribution, short but very much to the point, to the worldwide campaign for the protection of elephants.

Thank you Ida for your enlightning comment...I didn't know where I was going when I posted this poem....You give a meaning to the poem I hadn't thought  about....

Un autre sens du poème est qu'il faut mettre de l'eau dans son vin, on ne peut rester sur une position (une couleur) toute sa vie sous peine de souffrir ....

An other meaning is that you must pour sometimes water in your wine, you can't stand in an orientation (a color white) without suffering....

have a nice day...

I also agree with your other meaning, dear Yann. How true too!

Bonne journée!

J'aime tous les deux sens de ton poème.  So few words, so much depth.  Elephants and philosophy make a perfect blend.

When I first read this I did not think of elephants.
I saw the dying of all things beautiful - the inevitably of all good things coming to an end.
Maybe we all see what we want to see ...

Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
