         Sunset Life

When the last vestiges of
   sunset
paint the western hills
in a crimson-shadow
twilight afterglow,
(as Autumn’s scent hangs
  low)
a sharp crescent moon
carves its slice of star-field
   splendor,
from the closest edge of
an infinite cosmic void,
where all our finest hopes
and dreams...dance forever,
with the fleeting echoes
  of irrevocable time.
