I never remember what all we mentioned
my mind was other places
that you brought along secretly
in those jeans and that smile

but I did see our mouths moving
and heard sounds beyond just the ocean
and we introduced a kiss or two
something in passing that stayed

they say rincon has memories
of every lover that she knew
I go there often and ask her questions
she just smile her tides usually

sometimes she lets me look deeper
and I taste those suggestions of yours
that left hand prints on my shirt

but rincon says you stained my heart

This conjures stunning romance and yet aching melancholy.  Beautifully written.

but rincon says you stained my heart

You should be careful, dear D., with such conclusions ... not all might have at hand the salts to revive them!

Sigh!

I suppose that sometimes would be better than no times....

D

Perhaps it is not a stain at all but a tattoo forever linked to the beating of the heart it touches.

Maybe.

it's the open wound,
efficient reminder of
hearts drifting at sea.

Sounds like an achingly lovely day at the beach...
