Debt
Burning pockets to cinders,
Never leaving our thoughts;
Scraping away skin.
Consuming, never releasing;
In wait;
Thirsting for re-payment;
Foreshadowing your downfall;
Into pools of deep red,
Swirling around you ever faster,
Cyclonic tides pull you deeper.
Until you re-surface,
In a sea of wine.

This is very good, Preston!! It is a dangerous situation that brings nightmares, no doubt.

This poem should be included in all those offers of easy loans we receive, so that everyone would be more careful in spending, but this wouldn't be in the interest of financial intermediaries!!!

Good job!

Oh, the "D" word! Bad debt can lead to disaster! It's a disease that can eat away at one's spirit and peace of mind. You seem to have captured the essence of what that would be like. Easy credit makes it easy to slip into such a state!

Perhaps there truly is a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow! Here's hoping that this spring has lots of showers!

Good poem for these economic times.  Kind of a scarey time we are in.
