Her house has that familiar smell
That takes your breath away
The warmth of Mothers arms again
To keep the wolves at bay

Faces looking just like mine
Are smiling in reply
Tales are told, babies held
We laugh until we cry

Going home is deceptive
Not all is as it seems
Factories forever looming
No promises or dreams

The neighborhood now seems faded
Her colors turned down just a hue
The taverns are full, the welfare rolls
And we're all enjoying the view

Home is where mother's love lives. But surroundings does ruin the mood.

Tina,

Home is where your hat is.  Take my word for it.

It's all in your head.

Nice work BTW.

Even if the neighborhood changed, I am glad for you that home is still full of familiar faces. Enjoyed the read.

I felt your impressions on my own skin ... though I viewed different panoramas.

You rendered the feelings so well.

Tina,

I am a huge fan of your poetry.  I think you are really talented in expressing what you see and feel.

I like this one and am saving it.

Tina, when I read a poem of yours, I find myself reading it slowly and getting immersed in the feelings, the images, the nuances... I experience your poetry! ~ I don't just read it.

Loving hug,
Linda
