Be Glad You Got It So Great

I watch through eyes that have seen it all
and knowing that others have it really bad
it makes feel dirty when I hold a pity party
just because that day I feel a tad bit sad

I'm just like everybody else,
sometimes I don't want to face the day
because depression has me hoodwinked
and this causes me much dismay

But even when nothing seems to go right
I remind myself, this isn't all about me
I know I've got it better than good
better than some of those I see

So many people without a home
aimlessly wandering around
standing in the alleys
of the streets in your town

No food in their bellies
No shoes on their feet
no place to lay their head
or to hide from the heat

Grateful is what I am
when I look around and see
I've ignored so much good
what is wrong with me?

I got it pretty good
I've lived through hell
But have made it to other side
and now I'm doing pretty well

I used to talk about dying
claiming that's what I wanted to do
but if I can make it through the day
well honey, so can you

When things get really hairy
and sometimes it seems that way
I dig deep into my memories
and remember the good ole days

so the next time you think you got it bad
think of the dinner you just ate
think of that nice warm blanket you own
and be glad that you got it so great

I like this loads. The line:

“well honey, so can you”

is worth the price of admission. It made me laugh.

What you say is very true.

all that you speak of, makes us so much stronger....this was extermely vivid and full of emotions...very much enjoyed
