What Poets Do

I am a poet,
through and through,
driven to do
what poets do.
To feel,
To dream,
To hope,
To care,
To remember,
To search,
To write,
To share,
To question,
To cry,
To learn,
To die
and leave behind words,
...just words,
rather than dust or ashes.

Exactamondo!!!! Yes! You are! You do! ~ and I think I am too!

"and leave behind words,
...just words
rather than dust or ashes."

~ and I find that such a comforting thought!

I adore how you met shdp's 'Poet' challenge!!!

Love to you, Dear Ida the Poetess!

Ida,

This is well done.  You will leave behind your words, and your ashes too.  Just as an added bonus.

No more Assumptions allowed.

this my dear is what poetry feels like, there's no control when the whirlwind of emotion hits or laughter makes you roll on the floor. Someone pesses you off so instead of getting revenge you just write and somewhere you learn a little insight maybe even about yourself, it's what life is you live it, dream it, fake it and make it. Kind of like a nice warm chocolate sunday melting in your mouth. Loved your poem and the poetress wasn't to bad either, seriously was fanstastic

Thank You all for you wonderful comments.
I think this discription fits most poets I know. I believe poets tend to reach out to others more than most people do.

Thank you JW. Yes, I live in El Monte, actually So. El Monte (next door)I have lived here since I was 15. We came here from Idaho in 1959. If you were here in the 60s you may have known my brothers Henry and Anthony Clark.
