On this planet earth I dwell
where once the wayward angels fell,
when they set the serpent of knowledge free
and relinquished their immortality.

The burden of their rebellion we bear,
the curse of original sin we share.
Mere pawns in the clash of powers.
We are the mortals that time devours.

A commanding and compelling write!

Damn that "original sin"! We just keep on paying for it!

Love and hugs to you, Dear Ida,

I believe in original innocence and in the immortal soul ...
but you illustrate so well what many perceive on this level of existence, dear Ida!

Margharita,
That is very interesting since I really don't believe in anything that most people
perceieve of this existance. My thoughts explore many avenues and the thought behind this poem could prove to be very different than one might think.

Thank You all for your comments and interest. I wrote this poem some time ago and it is one of my personal favorites. I guess all poets have certain writes that we favor.

Ida,

I, too, like this one a lot.  It is an amazing piece of writing as far as I am concerned.
