Frost bright night
opened up to
moon glowed skies.
Giant ghost clouds
frame advance across
a firmament of
stars, bouyant in
silent deepening galaxies.
Winter grip tightening,
growing ice clumps
in arable fields,
where badgers search
for food camouflaged
by moonstream and
long tree silhouette.
Plunged below zero,
until light of
opaque sun licks
green grass clean
of scented frost,
steaming, rising in
air, entering conscience,
that swiftly drifts
to aureate amber
warmly streaming earthward.

Ring out, wild bells, to the wild sky, ring out the old, ring in the new,ring out the false, ring in the true..A Lord Tennyson

Fine ‘write!’…

I am especially fond of the imagery:

“silent deepening galaxies”;

the “moonstream and
… tree silhouette” camouflage;

and that steaming, scented frost
rising;

Applause!!

"where badgers search
for food camouflaged
by moonstream and
long tree silhouette."
BRAVO! A keen naturalist's observation, expressed poetically.

~ Oh, Phil! This is exquisitely vivid poetry.
I can see winter elapsing before my very eyes.
