Impressions In Stone

Jubilant,
The waking ledge, donned silver edge
In sunrise sheathed, the rock of ages
Astir the sound, made honor bound
The shade relinquished hold and ground
Peeled back the leaf, the limb, the trunk
To smile in spell of shallow sunk, the root
The waking ledge, from eagles fledge
Sky spirits float on updraft note made high
Look upon impressions made in stone belie
For from the sun, to life yet done
Hoof and heart of gold lamay the way
Carved of years and tears, and jubilant each day
The weather, come what may
Brought to light, what words I cannot say
