A feisty filly flies through the air,
legs akimbo but in perfect form,
mane and tail flying
as if pushed by gale force winds.

Youth and energy personified!

This filly frolics over hill and dale
so full of herself,
and with good reason;
for she is a rare Lipizzan,
bred for Kings and royalty
in The Old World,
a noble heritage bred today
for classical riding,
with outstanding manners,
intelligence and personality,
and a strong desire
to please humans,
while remaining
the quintessential
Equis.

Welcome to the world,
Lipizzan filly.

Wonderful, dear Kacy! Your words induced me to visit your daughter's site and I watched the slide show. Such an incredible elegance!

Yes beauty personified!

Thanks, friends! The noble Lipizzan really is a remarkably intelligent horse.
Watching the foals as they play with other equines, and as they learn 'the rules' of human/equine interaction
(such as no biting or kicking humans, please)is an unforgettable experience.
My daughter Sara is an apprentice horse trainer and a fine photographer.

I likes this poem and the fact I had to look up akimbo to challange my mind.

Sara's love of horses has been captured in all their beauty and grace in her photography, just beautiful! Mom, you captured it beautifully in words as well.  As they say, "The apple doesn't fall far from the tree."

Kacy,

You made me homesick for the time that my brother and I had horses.  This poem is a keeper.
