Today, I was tending my roses
Winters grip loosening
I imagined them cry out,
“Prune us, dear gardener
and we will grow!”

It occurred that my heart, too
would benefit from a little clip
maybe two
I would, for new buds of life
for hope of renew

And then
without even trying…
I thought of you.

The significance of roses, and the pruning that must occur, so that another season's smile will come.  The gardner in me reviewed this many times.
Nicely done.

I love everything about this. How often we let our hearts lie dormant like roses in winter and how hard sometimes it is to let that spring of hope enter in. I'm longing so for spring this year, for that rebirth of the land and just that spark of newness it brings into my life
