You know I don’t mean to hurt you, right?
You have been a part of me so long
I couldn’t bear to give you up, despite….

The playful teasing, cursing and derogatory retorts
The sad promise of together if ever
We find ourselves alone and out of sorts

First it was me, then you
Ten years in between
Before we found the opportunity to do

What didn’t really work as it should
We are separately such a mess
That neither understood

So again you went there
And I stayed here
Ending up as if we hadn’t moved anywhere

I don’t mean to hurt us
I just don’t want to let go
But I see it in your eyes, letting go, I must

There is an aspect of love that is tragic in its beauty and pain. You've expressed it so well here with heart felt emotion.

I'm back.

I just read this, and it made me think of you and this poem, so I just thought I'd share. Especially since I go around recommending James Hollis to you, and then I..forget! sheesh)

We cannot change anything unless we accept it. Condemnation does not liberate, it oppresses.

You write the truth so vividly. As sad as this was to read, I understand it so well.
On a side note, I can also appreciate Serenitys reply about acceptance and condemnation.  I've been there too long and recently let it go.  My head started hurting after beating against the wall forever.

Great poem and a pretty picture of you too, Susan.
