Felix can’t get the memory
out of his head—
Fred carrying Felix’s skinny
frame in his arms
to the emergency ward,
when Felix was all tore-up
from a trick gone way bad.

What are you going to do
for a guy like that?

Why,
you’re going to take care of him,
as best you know how.

Felix knows it’s no use
trying to talk Fred in
off the street.

Fred is carrying
too much baggage
for a trip like that.

Felix has money,
and Fred doesn’t—
after all,
Felix has something to sell,
he’s a professional.

Felix knows what Fred needs.

Felix takes Fred to lunch
on a regular basis.

It’s the least Felix can do
for a guy like Fred.

Felix owes Fred.

Bobby

Shows the importance of friends...reminds me of a night in Germany when I was in the Army and got into a bar fight and was on the losing end and my friend showed up at just the right time and bailed me out...he was a farmer from Missouri in his civilian life...James

Seoulair,

It's the least Felix could do for a friend like Fred.

Thanks for the kind comment.

James,

Yes, friends are extremely important.  Sometimes friends are more important than family.

You were lucky to have a good friend like that.

sometimes friends are sent to you for a reason, to teach you something. When I think about my friends I realize that I have learned something from each of them,
even if it was only patience in one or two cases. I'm glad Felix remembered Fred.

I had quite a smile with this one Bobby

Felix and Fred certainly have their share of problems.

LindsayP,

I'm pleased this one made you smile.  It's nothing in the way of problems that Felix and Fred can't handle.

Now you know that.

Dear RDB,

Thanks for that.  Like Felix, I need a friend like you.  I'm hoping to see you here in our beautiful Philadelphia someday.  The city of brotherly/sisterly love.

Dear RDB,

Felix would save you, no problem.  He’s good with directions, very accommodating, and highly resourceful.  He’ll meet you at the airport.

Get your world map out.  Sydney is 34 0’ South Lat., 151◦ 0’ East Long. While Philadelphia is 39◦ 57’ North Lat., 75◦1 0’ West Long.

It’s a long trip.  I’ve made it in the past.  I’d advise business class.

Bobby
