Since Dad’s got taken off to jail,
Mom has to work too hard.

She cleans house
for a rich lady
outside of the city.

The lady picks them up
in the morning,
and makes them sit
in the back seat of her car.

Mom takes Felix along.
He can work too.

Felix does things like
cleaning ash trays,
and perhaps polishing up
some silverware.

Felix is good with silverware.
He likes the way it shines.

Felix thinks his Mom
works too hard.
She always gets to do
all the dirty work,
like scrubbing floors,
and then waxing them.

Then she’ll have to do the dishes,
and cook the meals,
and then do the dishes again.

By the end of the day,
Mom’s pretty well messed up.

Coming home to the city
in the back seat,
Felix is sitting there thinking,
he really has to find
some way of making money,
so Mom doesn’t have to
work too hard.

Sometimes it makes Mom grouchy,
and she hollers at him.

Bobby

I love Felix' thoughts here, dear Bobby. I hope and trust he succeeded in his intention, in order to make his mother's life less hard.

Well rendered situation!

Love,
Margherita

We lived in an apartment building as a kid.
She would clean all the apartments. Since we lived in the bldg. she was able to keep me at her side. She took the job so she would be able to keep me near and safe.
So when I grew into an adult. I went out and bought her a stack of dresses and told her she would never have to wear jeans again(that was a sign of being poor). She never forget that jester of love and would boost of how proud she was of her daughter.
I hope Felix had the same opportunity to show his mother(with all her human faults) that he still loved her b/c sometimes we forget that a parent can make mistakes just like us (the children).
As I read about Felix it looks like he had a hard life and now he has an outlet for his pain through writing.Even tho it may have happened years ago.
As an adult I hope his life was good most of the time and learned lessons on how not to be in his adult years.
For me I took the quiet life and decided not to judge my parent for she was human and I am human and we all make mistakes. Sometimes, the mistakes, they are whoppers for sure.
Wow listen to me. I didn't think my reply would be this long.
See ya
Hugs

Dear Bon-Bon,

Thanks, I understand completely.  Felix's Mom didn't have faults at all.  She was way cool.

I hope Mom had an easier time of it as she got older.

Ida,

Yes she did.  She died at 83 with all her wits, and kindness about her.

Thanks Dear RDB,

For the hugs.  You would have liked Felix's mother.  She was always such a strong, and kind woman.  She would have loved you right back.  That's the kind of woman she was.

Bobby
