.

A helicopter comes in
Over the parameter

There is
A drumming rhythm
To its blades

It drops off supplies

Rations ammunition
Raising dust
Above the foxholes

And leaves
Taking away
Another day
And plastic bags

a fine, timely and most important 'write!'...

some of us relate only too well to this 'penning!'
...and would have not the means, nor the courage,
even to discuss that 'time and place' EVER...

I NEVER thought to see it all happening again in
my lifetime (especially for even far less 'justifiable'
reasons!)....

applause for this 'slice of reality' impression.

I love to play with titles so here are a few.
Drumming Blades
Rations of Life
Memories of The Foxhole
Plastic Bags
Helicopter
Another Day of Hell
Dust and Death
Sounds of War
Just a few I could come up with.

John,

This is a very powerful, and sad poem.  It's very well done.

Someones war just seems to go on and on.

Wars passed on from one fool to another, while kids from a poor neighborhood like mine get caught in the middle.

Sick is the word for it.

Someone's making a pile of money on it.

Spending recent days at a VA  hospital complex and talking to so many veterans in the waiting rooms, both young and old, is an experience in itself.
