The other day as I did ride on through the "Forum Lands",
was constipation knit my brow, for as I understands,
someone put forth the notion that perhaps before we "joust"
another forum might be best instead of open houst.

Another voice was heard to say we need established rules,
and, granted there are times my friends they can be useful tools,
but, leave us not be hasty in our rush to build this fence,
in doing so that we shall mourn our good friend, "Common Sense".

While true these days he's not well known in "jousting circles " say,
the element of class he shows enriches any fray.
A man of cool seductive charm and calculated wit
with "Common Sense" at his command is just about all "It".

And so I say If you would "joust" use common sense , of course,
or else the moderators may just yank you off your horse!

Sunshine,
Thanks dear, I'm glad you thought so.
Doc
P.S.
Coincidentally, I went back to check that thread
after writing this today and found quite similar sentiments being expressed by Balladeer, I guess he beat me again. Lol.

There's a right way and a wrong way to do almost anything. Just a little common sense is all that is needed in this situation and it sounds like you have it, Doc.

Joust Foolin' Around 2

Those muddled poets should be whipped  for such a mad suggestion!
I mean how stupid must they be to ask a simple question?
Common sense is obvious, it’s uni-verse-silly
Constant and unchanging in poetic fools like me.

Hitler, he had common sense and mad Hussein as well
And even Manson so they say (but that one’s hard to tell).
History is full of proof of how common sense can be
There’s Genghis Khan and  King Canute, and did I mention me?

We can always catch the oddballs, delete those that resist
And holier than thou hold up the rules that don’t exist
“I’m sorry but you’ve stepped across a non-existent line
It’s obvious to everyone - try common sense next time”

Oh!Boy! That ole friend called Common Sense
must ride a wild horse b/c it does get lost at times in the dust. Sometimes Common Sense
gets a slap in the head and listens, but other times Common Sense knows all there is to know and fights the friend called Reason.
Good jobber .

Grinch,
Joust Foolin' Around Three.

Your lance has struck upon a point quite worthy of debate,
yet caution is advised my friend for what you'd advocate.
Such rules once they're imposed may often reek of overkill,
disarm man with too much rule and you remove free will.

Let's say that we remove the horse as PETA thinks it's cruel,
and next let's take away the lance, it's such a vicious tool,
and people should not play with swords/words
as someone might get hurt...
This battle to the winner who's done best at being inert!

Just how much rule is too much rule is one I cannot say,
but one good rule occurs to me as true unto this day,
and that is that we treat each other as we'd they treat us,
and that my friend's joust common sense without all of the fuss.

I'd hardly think that that would make one "holier than thou"
but possibly joust better versed in common sense know how.

Joust to Clarify (Four)

Moosey though it may seem strange I half agree with you,
In a perfect world with Deers and Toes the minimum would do
Effjayel and Simon the Grinch and Sewasham too
Could manage without rules at all (well maybe just a few).

But it’s a sad but true reflection of society today
That gentlemen like Silver are but needles in the hay
For brats and miscreant wing nuts, for fools if I may say,
Some simple rules may serve to show the limits of fair play.

Maybe I’m building mountains where moles will never tread
And all the wrongs I rant about are simply in my head.
Perhaps a compromise is just to put debate to bed
And revisit it if it becomes reality instead.

You see the thing that really pains me is that while duelling is debated
The jousting threads I love to read joust seem to have abated.

Thanks for the chance to read and reply.
