I have made a huge mistake.
I was playing cards and ran out of stake.
I had no collateral left to use
(I'd already lost my shirt and my shoes)
And I had a hand that couldn't lose.
So seeing that the pot had reached a princely sum,
I lost my head to a rush of blood
And I bet...

My mum.

Now there's someone else about whom
She constantly feels the need to worry.
Now there's someone else who hurries
Round once a week for tea
Now there's someone else who hopes it's curry.

Now there's someone else for whom
She'll subconciously wait up 'til quite late
And hope he hasn't managed to get himself
Into too much of a stste.

Now there's someone else who she should
Never need to doubt.
Who's hard work
But she would never be without.

And if I've learnt anything from any of this
It's to never gamble
With the unconditional love
That a mother has for her son.

Even if you've got a 5,6,7,8 and 9 of diamonds
Run...

For Mum.

Great fun to read and great lesson included too!

Wise decision!
