As sift of sand slipped from my hand
I chanced to see before me
a wondrous gift...

Reality.

No foolish fantasy could offer me
this sacred sight so clearly;
the beauty of life’s story
lies openly upon the earth naturally,
the bounty of which can be found as easily
in the lowliest ebony depths of a muddy ditch
as within coveted cerulean skies,
or upon waves of titanium white
as they curl and twitch
atop the most tempestuous cobalt seas.

In search of the purpose of past,
I cast about aimlessly seeking complex solutions,
pondering life’s never-ending mysteries
while the surround sound of noisy screeching gulls
teased me, enticed me to crawl
over sharp shin-scraping wretched rocks on the jetty,
when all along, beneath my wandering feet
sacred smooth stones did speak repeatedly:

all are one, all are one, all are one.

Not being one to consciously embrace
higher math or elusive elaborate formulas,
this simple message offered
proof of Unity, my samadhi:

though Reality is
whatever each one chooses it to be,
in the end we are all one
reality.

Kacy,

You have it right.  Reality is what we are given, that’s it, what you see is what you get--the end of the story.  As you say, we are all part of it.

This is an excellent write.

Bobby

The depth of this poem is fantastic..the thoughts that flashed through your mind like sun through racing clouds gives glimpses of your wisdom..and thats all we need to see of what your intentions were for us to see...

Thank you kacy..

Peace be with you..

a 'Universalist' !

This interesting  ‘slice of beach life’ impression effectively nails the ‘certain certainties’…
of the 'Universalism' paradigm (as well as Buddhist tradition):  transience, flux , and the
‘interconnectedness’ of all!

[samadhi /Dhyana  (high level concentrated meditation) is the "proximate cause" to the
attainment of Prajñā  the wisdom born from the direct realization of the Catvāri āryasatyāni
(the four noble truths):  "impermanence" (transience & flux); "dependent origination" (mutually
interdependent web of cause and effect); "not-self" (impermanent constituent elements of the
body and mind) , "emptiness" (the ‘void’… impermanent nature of form/ non-enduring identity)

some of the same 'key' themes which I humbly attempt to weave throughout most of my 'writes' as well.

well done, poet/natural philosopher!

I'm delighted so many of you found this write interesting and meaningful.
Thank you, Bruce, for the added info. Yes, samadhi is level of enlightenment below 'nirvana' and usually accompanies intense meditation. Then again, sometimes, a soul spends a lifetime seeking enlightenment, often  encountering it but not recognizing it, until a 'chance' moment of epiphany.
May you each fulfill your individual quest!
