and now the ides of august
leaking down the chin of my mind
like the dribbling words
of my pen as it wanders

wondering after your gypsies
and their trails to maine
where our eyes might be the same
looking back to back together

at some velvet moment
that would heal the unsaid
that we both know is between
wind gap measurements of time

where we were in different places
mostly all of our lives
looking at other stone moments
wondering of the rivers that ran

over the smile of their afternoons
