                        Among the ruins
                     were pieces of my heart
                     scattered about the dunes
                     each precious part
My soul was laid to waste
                     admist the desert sands
                     and fragments strewn
                     across many lands
                     my essence gone
                     my spirit stripped
                     I was so sure
how could I have slipped ?
                     Yet I err I did
                     I did choose wrong
                     in giving away my love
how will I get along ?

I was wondering when I would see your first post here.  Very nicely done and as Mish said, the beach referances tied in very nicely to this.  Well done!!  Welcome to Pip!!

Greetings, ltc! Welcome to what may very well become your new home-away-from-home, as it has for so many of our fellow kindred poetic spirits!

Our love may fall on desert sands, but it is never wasted. You really engaged my emotions with this fine, debuting poem of yours.

Giving you a warm, welcoming hug,
Earth Angel

We don't do wrong in giving away our love, as love is something to give, we do wrong by giving it to the wrong person...and the way to know is to go slow...James
