      Late Summer Evenings

On such palliative evenings…
of soft-amethyst twilight
floating in a Summer breeze,
(with memory-mists and moonbeams
dancing in our fleeting dreams)
one recalls the very first thrill
of  love and high places…
(mid fine wind-still clouds lacking
  destination)
ephemeral as the vanishing dew
on gossamer-web morning clover,
painted by the early brush of Spring;
and the soul,
like smoke-tinged music…ascends…
if but for a moment,
beyond yesterday’s noise
and tomorrow’s sorrows,
to a pathless plane of infinite
  peace and possibilities!

This crystalized image:

"ephemeral as the vanishing dew
on gossamer-web morning clover,"

so rare and fine,
evokes memories once lost.

And this:

"and the soul,
like smoke-tinged music…ascends…
if but for a moment,
beyond yesterday’s noise
and tomorrow’s sorrows,"

Wow. Greatly enjoyed.
