.

As always
In the back yard
Our overzealous dog
Runs to the fence
Each time wagging his tail
A car passes by

The cat
On the porch steps
At equal watch although
With seeming indifference
While squirrels collect acorns
Across the road

The birds at the feeder
Drop more seeds than they take
So the sparrows as well
Are able to get a meal

It’s just another day
In the life we didn’t have
The smells of supper
From the stove

well done!

[though this one hits rather
too close to my 'real life']:

"It’s just another day
In the life we didn’t have"

applause for this 'penning!'

I wish I had a dog next door that just wagged his tail at passing cars...that one barks at his shadow...a little  dachshund

I usually love animals and ordinary days but no more
