There is but little left remaining
that does not give rise
to this ash
that would cover the soul

In dreams

there are mists
masking the remembrance
of parched lips once touched
by the sweet refrains
of endless eves

quenching momentarily
the need to know more
of hot August nights
wrapped in heat
that dissipated rapidly

into the mournings

of memories
that are close enough
for fingertips to touch
in the dawning light;

and reaching upwards
I try to recapture a moment

to feel that feeling again

only to find in palms pressed
these remnants held of

burnt offerings.

Yes,  such it is...the burnt offering can
be more than just biblical, and very appropriate as well.

capt, I have to chuckle because I honestly don't believe I have any particular style...lol...I just put on paper what spills out of my mind and heart.  Thank you kindly, sir.
