“Look for me” she said
And I turned by the way to stare at grey clouds
Covering a weak winter sun
Feeling the skin of stone I hide within begin
The crazed crack that would leave me bared
To the jealousy of being touched by winding currents

The wind sinned in its own way
Stealing the warmth of naked summer and turning it cold
Without the repentance of prayer or the penitence of beads
To save it from being damned
Yet it touches you
And I find my fingers reaching along the strands of its passing
To try and feel how it must be when in the touch of cheek
It brings a flush to pale skin

I search still the smoke of cold nights
Looking for the shadows of her there
Adrift I suppose
Upon an edge of R.E.M dreams
That leaves within the pit of gut the empty hole
Too large for my own hands to close
And I bleed the night sky
Empty of stars
Holding onto the frayed strings that come
From the unweave of cloth
To stand bare this way

But for the shadows I own
And they too
Gaze towards the sound of her

Leaving those parting words

“Look for me” she said
and I fixed the depths of my eyes to hers

“I always have “

So come pirouette with falling leaves
And bow to smell the acrid oak as it runs sap
From fresh sawn trunk
In wait and cure for a winter’s fire where I will stare

Empty flames
Thinking always of how it is to hear your name
To have tasted the sheen upon your brow
As you lay beneath the thrust of thoughts
An arch to give succor to the hardness within
And sighed……

“Look at me”
and dream

These November eyes were moist as they read... This truly is incredible, dear Capt.
