    "On Evenings Like This" (#4)

On evenings like this…
when the soft-fading twilight
tempts the lonely mind and soul
with cascading moonlit dreams,
(etched in finest stardust)
that speak with infinite certainty
of beauty’s eternal eloquence
in just such a vanishing glimpse
of Nature’s very soul…
You return once more,
in fantasy, beyond all reason
across the endless abyss
   of irrevocable fate,
and all the ever-shifting
sands and seas of time
that lie between us…
I taste the delicious scent
   of mingled joy and sorrow,
and dance with your spirit
until the music of the dawn
glows soft and warm
in a pale-rose and saffron sunrise,
where the first idle sunbeams chase
the last lingering echoes of lost love,
through the shimmering morning mist…
as the grand-wide sunlit world awakes!

At times your poetry takes my breath away ~ This is one of those times.

Captivating and 'breathtakingly' gorgeous!
Very stirring and highly romantic!

Every time I think I've read the best poem you've written, there's a new one! No words to describe how fine this work is... What a pleasure to begin this day by reading this poem!

That was downright, oh I have to say it...dreamy. So whimsical and fantastic.

Have to ditto all the other replies.  Amazing write - dreamy, yes, but with depth and perhaps no small measure of truth.

What a pleasure is is to read this magical masterpiece. I have been going back and reading some of the poems that were posted before I came to the site and I never pass over one by Secondhanddreampoet and this is why.                               Ida
