you are a perfect grey this morning
your fog a heavy shade of grim
the darkened shroud on your cold shoulder
prevents the light from breaking in

a dreary mist obscures your horizon
the dampness wraps you in its chill
it muffles any life around you
the mark of time is standing still

if morning light could touch the dewdrops
they’d shimmer like the rain in your eyes
that falls inside your weighted sadness
onto your polished stones of ice

in silence, mother earth is drinking
hidden in the safety of her mooring
swallowed up in dark, and drowning
in her perfect grey of mourning

WOW, then you live in a mini-paradise! My daughter and I drove from eastern WA to Port Angeles and took the ferry across, spent 2 days in Victoria before making the long drive back. That cruise up and down 101 is incredibly beautiful! I wish I'd had more time and $ to visit the depths of the rain forest. Next time... perhaps, next spring or summer.

Now THAT is what I'd call, "creating an atmosphere"! My word! You have me cloaked in it! ~ So realistic! Very well written, my long lost friend! ~ Good to be reading you again!

Sending some sunshine your way ~ & a great big hug,

EA

Kahlil

I am so glad that I stopped to read.  You swept my breath away and I could get it back til the end.  This is so beautiful.  Just so beautiful.
