The children's Christmas is simple and bright
They sing the music, they laugh in the light;
Sparkling colors are a magical spell,
Their instant joy flows bubbling and well.
~ ~ ~
But round that tree I see a space,
Beside the table an empty place,
A voice is missing, a form of grace,
The sweetness of a little lost face.
~ ~ ~
A vacuum was left by the child who's gone,
Though all seems right, something's terribly wrong.
I'd give up my Christmas and gaity fine,
To clasp that small hand again in mine.

(C) 1998 Rosemary J. Gwaltney
Dedicated to my precious small daughter Sheena, who will forever be with me in my heart.
(Repost)

By the way, I WILL hold her hand again - when we are reunited in Heaven at last.  We will know joy there, even greater than that we knew here.  An enormous comfort for these long, waiting years.

A very lovely poem and very touching story. I am sorry for your lost and I am happy that you have such a good spirit to face this now. But we miss our loved ones and we do miss them with tears. We do.
Love you.
wish you a wonderful Christmas and a happy new year.
May God bless you and comfort you, my dear.

Dear (((((Rosemary)))), what a sweet tender write. Christmas filled with children's joy is heartwarming, but I can imagine how the loss of your little Sheena must hurt deeply still.

There are divine gifts we enjoy in their fullness only for a short time, but the memory accompanies us through our whole existence and beyond ... I believe your souls are in daily/nightly touch and this love will always dance in your heart, till you will meet again on another plane, as you say with the trusting voice of a Mother.

All my love and tender hugs.
Margherita

Thank you, kind poets, for reading this.  I appreciate your words.  Yes, Martie, the circle of love just keeps rolling.
