Cheater of Hearts

I am tempted to release passion
From its drug induced containment
Of spontaneous fantasies and curious temptation…
But my heart threatens to keep silent its beat
If I accept this curse begot of Adam
When he could have simply said "No"…
Still I converse and argue with my soul
That I should no longer keep dormant,
My undeserved kisses and forbidden touch
Just to make a hypocrite out of love
And a believer out of those who trust unconditionally…
I want to believe that my thoughts one day revealed
Will be forgiven and then forgotten as lust
When I apologize with words
And the embraces of my shadow
Attempting to placate both light and dark
To the unbelief and shame of both soul and heart
For they know which side I am soon again to abide.

Marcel
