Sighing For Sarah

Sighing for Sarah once again
and every now and then
I lose myself in misty visions
of filling her heart with joy
oh poor smitten little boy
you've fallen in love
she's just what you've been dreaming of
once more it begins
sighing for Sarah once again

Dreaming in decibels 3,2,1
her eyes like midnight suns
she brings me a smile sweetly
then I awaken to ever alone
shivering to the bone
I'm so madly in love
she's just what I've been dreaming of
once more it begins
dreaming of Sarah once again

And every time she walks this way
my heart goes boom
and every time she looks my way
I'm shot to the moon
yeah I sigh because I
found what I was looking for
but I am much too shy
never felt quite like this before

Longing for love all the time
my heartbeat stops on a dime
when I see her eyes glow
amber dark, pretty and wise
can she see through my disguise
and into my inner war
she's just what I've been longing for
once more my heart opens
longing for Sarah once again

'Cause every time she smiles at me
I feel high, so high
and every time I find myself sighing
alone in the night
yeah I'm sighing just for Sarah
and I wonder what we could be
Cupid, send her love care of
this one who just longs to be
living for Sarah
and dreaming a dream to share
and softly touching her heart with care
yes I know that in all this world
oh girl
I only want to be there
with you

so, I took some liberties here and just slipped a "susan" in where there was a "sarah" just so I could feel it, just for a breath...

Thank you.

Your words filled me with a bittersweet inner smile.

Beautifully expressed yearning, burning desire for Sarah ~ and ever so sweet and tender.

May she return the love that you so generously offer! (Lucky girl!)

I had to chuckle at Susan's reply.
But you have some nice lines in here, Zach, though I felt the "heart goes boom" line to be quite weak.
Good to read you again.

Oh, man.  I read this out loud and fell in love - with your poem.  It's a keeper and, believe me, so are you.  Great work.

This is a love song, for sure!
Now, if you were to sing it to her,
Wow!

It is a song.   Nearly everything I write that rhymes is a song. There's just no melody, no music, yet. Still, I'm much too shy to sing it to her. Like Ronnie Van Zandt once said, "all I can do is write about it".
Many thanks to everyone for their kind comments.
