In dreams I fly above
the town as it once was
and find familiar spots
speaking of a buried past
which sometimes makes me
close my eyes in gratitude
for the gifts of love
still tangible within my heart,
but sometimes it
makes me feel uneasy
unable to tie the knots
between what is gone
and what is new.

Now I walked those alleys
still feeling the roots
asking for attention.
Memories sprout
like tiny flowers
through the crevices
of time beaten house walls,
even though to others’ eyes
they look freshly painted.
I let them have their moment,
yet I am unaffected deep inside.

Truth is I bring new smiles
elicited on far away grounds.
I see the immortal beauty
of the surroundings
and wish to sigh and share
their timeless charm.
But those once vivid voices
remain silent or if I am lucky
I can hear them in the wind.

I know my nightly flights
will still happen now and then
and occasionally bring bliss
to remind me that the present
holds past and future
and that I can live in peace,
for everything
has been put in place
by patient hands of love
which helped me to see
how to embrace
the shadows of my life,
to bring forth healing
and smiles that fit all times
and light to every site.

The resonance of familiar and comforting places rings so sweetly in your verse.
A delightful read.

Interesting dream/time ‘write’!

I am especially fond of thoughts
and images such as:

“…familiar spots
speaking of a buried past”;

… unable to tie the knots
between what is gone
and what is new.”;

“Memories sprout
like tiny flowers
through the crevices
of time…”

“the present
holds past and future”;

Applause!

Thank you dear Poet friends for the attention and kind comments. This is Rapperswil on the lake of Zurich, Switzerland, my hometown. It is a magical place, for the memories it holds for me, but above all for the magnificent surroundings, the lake, the mountains, the countryside.

Love,
Margherita

Dear Margherita - It does indeed look like a magical place and one worth going back to. This one slipped passed me but I'm so glad to have read it now.  Enjoyed your words so much especially the ending.

Your hometown looks like a magical place! ~ one befitting our Magical Margherita!

Perhaps the next time that you go flying at night, you and I could meet on the causal plane and do some dreamy exploring! (I avoid the astral plain, if I can! It's full of ne'er do wells! lol)

This was absolutely lovely!

Love to you and a hug 'n a smile,

Linda

Thank you dear Helen and dear Linda for the loving comments, which I enjoyed!
It is amazing actually that nearly all of my dreams are acted out in those surroundings, which I left when I married at 24, quite some time ago!! Our roots are incredibly strong.
Very very often I fly ... yes Linda it would be a pleasure to meet you up there! You are telling me that the astral plane is infested by "ne'er do wells"? I wonder now!

Love and hugs.

Thank you dear Roniece, for the kind comment. You would not be disappointed, I am sure, if you went to visit this enchanting place in Switzerland. Its distance from Zurich is 30km. You could even take a boat for the transfer, that would allow you to have the most satisfying panorama view.

Love,
Margherita

Margherita, I cannot even begin to express how deeply this touched me tonight.  I just returned from a visit home, many miles away, after five long years.  I have only been able to get home twice in the past 10 years.  Needless to say, I'm filled with words at the moment but not enough time to get them out.....and then I peeked in here and saw that you have already said it all so perfectly!  Hugs for this one.....jo

Thank you dear Jo for telling me you enjoyed this. It was a long time too for me since I last visited. Whenever I have some days off, I visit my daughter in Belgium, so I neglected Switzerland, especially after my Mother died. I think SHE wanted me to come home ... I had a dream: "I was in my car on a dark street and my car didn't have the lights on either, I was stuck on a road  leading upwards, but couldn't see a thing ...then my Mother passed by walking quickly close to the car and I heard her say "it's time you switch on the lights or you will never find your way home" and she disappeared in the darkness again. When awake I felt it was an invitation to not wait any longer ...
I'm happy that you had a great time with your Mother and with Misc.
Love and hugs.
